Clarington - Trail Inspection - Ganaraska West Forest, Moderate; Karen Graham

Members only hike. Pre-registration is mandatory.

ORTA Map 8: Clarington East - 10 km; 3-3.5 hours with the shuttle; moderate pace.

The main purpose of this hike is to conduct the spring inspection of the Oak Ridges Trail through the Ganaraska West Forest.

Please note that it is turkey hunting season in the west forest. Please familiarize yourself with the hunting rules in the forest. 

This hike takes us east of Hwy 115 and entirely through the Ganaraska (West) Forest. Please note that each hiker will need to pre-purchase a day pass from the Ganaraska Forest Conservation Authority. The pass is $7 and can be purchased online. There is a reminder on the site not to purchase your pass too many days in advance (store.ganaraskaconservation.ca)

In advance of the hike, consider downloading the Field Map app and the Ganaraska Forest Map. 

Preparing for the Hike: Dress in appropriately for the weather, bug repellant,  and 2 litres of water. No dogs.
